"Es1a is pro-biased and we recommend 717/ KGSSHV/BHSE for the amplification. 353x will do fine,T1 is a bit soft and try to avoid 252s. If you are talking about voltage swing specification on normal listening levels 30-80V peak-to-peak is pretty adequate, similar to Stax. Even the 252s has a higher voltage swing. Our unique 0.3mm configuration is talking about the stator thickness, while the D-S gap for es1a is 0.55mm."
Ich zitiere hier aus einer STAX FB Gruppe von "Tuğbars Heptaşkın" [falls ein Zitat zulässig ist hier, sonst lösche ich das raus..]:
Detail: With stock pads, they are easily on par with 009S in terms of detail. Hard to believe, I know, I still can't believe either.
Bass: Way better than 009S. Slams even harder than 007, has better control in sub bass too. Birgir says the opposite but I don't agree with him. Bass tonality is on the "ethereal" side rather than authoritative - warm bass of 007. I have to compare more.
Mids: They don't have that 2-4khz recession of 007 or upper midrange bite of 009, es1a is definitely more involving and engaging than both. There is some 3khz energy, if the music you listen is well recorded that won't be a problem. I actually liked this excessive 3khz energy that es1a puts out. 007 is a bit more textured but ES1A sounds slightly more detailed.
Treble: Very good but 007 is better in this regard. There is a lot of air between instruments. There is no sibilance issues. I really can't put into words what 007 does better though. Let me try my best: 007 just feels like tonally more accurate in high treble range and puts out all the details in the sound envelope with better precision.
Imaging: 009 and 007 are slightly better. The difference is so slight that it can be ignored.
Layering: 007 has better layering, ES1A isn't very far behind.
Soundstage: I've heard that these have largest soundstage among all electrostatic headphones. It's slightly wider than my 007's, the depth and height is same. I'm the only guy on internet who thinks ES1A doesn't sound MUCH wider than 007. That said, ES1A definitely sounds more open.
The more I listen to them, the more I like them. They are extremely fast, open, ethereal sounding(true electrostatic house sound) headphones with clean, textured bass without being shy to slam hard or rumble when the music is calling for it. As someone said before: This is what 009S should have been.
